A opta este un verb care nu poate fi folosit decât urmat de complemente introduse prin prepoziţia pentru şi care înseamnă „a alege”, „a prefera”, „a se decide în favoarea cuiva sau a ceva”:

 

S-au afişat cursurile, iar noi trebuie să optăm pentru câteva.

Dintre cei doi candidaţi, tu pentru cine optezi?
